On  Wendesday, December 17th, our school had an Elementry Christmas Concert. I was sad that my mom came late because of traffic. But I enjoyed singing our song, “The 12 days of Kiwi Christmas” and playing our musical instruments for the “Christmas Medley” and “Silent Night”.

When GSIS Elementry Christmas Concert started, we sang  “The 12 days of Kiwi Christmas” and we played our musical instruments for the “Christmas Medley”. Lots of parents complained that they couldn’t see us because we played our instruments not on the stage but  in front of the stage.

Towards the end of Christmas concert, other students from Grade 4, Grade 3, Grade 2, Grade 1, and Kindy lit their candle lights and stood at the end of the auditorium. While these students were turning on their candle lights, Grade 2 presented their drama and we played our instruments for “Silent Night”. When the narrator for Grade 2 drama was telling the story, we hummed “Silent Night”. As the narrator continued, we played our instruments  for “Silent Night”.

After when we finished our concert, we ate different foods (sandwhich, kimbub, juice, and fruits).  I was busy finding my mom who came after the GSIS Elementry Christmas Concert finished. So, my friends already got their foods so I shared with her. I was sorry for her.

This is my first GSIS Christmas Concert. I hope my next  (I am go to Middle School) Christmas Concert will be better. I didn’t liked that the Christmas Concert was only 40 minutes and I think we didn’t had a lot of time to practice. There wasn’t enough musical instruments. So, I hope next year’s Christmas Concert will have more time to practice and more kinds of musical instruments. More talents and a longer show that is more than 40 minutes.

This picture shows James Dodge and his  family posing in front of their horse drawn wagon. I think they had just immigrated to Lethbridge where they will settle. Just like this picture shows James Dodge’s family moving, there were a lot of other people who immigrated to another place.

There are lots of reasons why they are immigrating. These are reasons why lots of people immigrated to America.

War: Lots of European immigrate to another country during a time when their country was having a war. They wanted to protect their lives.
To get a new job: There were a lot of European who wants to get a new job to get more money.
Freedom: Since lots of people were immigrating to America, European had to always obey the King even if King was wrong.  If no king, a government’s ways.
Religious freedom: In certain places, one dominant religion would be followed, so other religions were either banned or frowned upon.  So people would leave their country to freely practice their religion without worry of harm.

Better Opportunities/Chances: European doesn’t have any freedomso they moved elsewhere to get better opportunities.
To get away from political problems: Europe had a lot of political problems.  A lot of rivalry, riots, revolts, caused many issues within a nation.
Better education: European complained a lot of their country’s education system or their lack of resources.

I believe this family immigrated because of many of these reasons.
