AWI TV commercial

During UOI class, we learned about charity organization. The central idea of this section is Taking Positive ACTION makes a DIFFERENCE. There are three main things about an organization.

1) Organizations are developed to help others.

2) Community organizations can have a local national or global focus.

3) Children can make a difference though their actions.

We had lots of projects about this section such as making a poster of  Helping Haiti and drawing a mind map of  how charity organizations are helping people in need. On these days we had a biggest project called Exhibition Project.

At the start of the unit, our teachers asked Suwon Council whether there were some organizations that we could help locally. They said  we were too young to do anything. But we clearly shows that students can make a difference.

When I was starting this project with my groupmates There are lots of things that I need to learn so I decided to make our scrapbook to write our plannings and informations about these project together.

Things that we need to work on is about this project such as powerpoint, 3 display board, and making poster of how IB Learner Profile is related to this organization.

During Exhibition project I chose this organization called Animal Welfare Insititute and I planned display board, powerpoint, donating money by fundraising, and TV commercial so that it didn’t spent long time to do these things like our last Media project.

We fundraised on March 11th and 12th. It is called Bake Sale and actually we didn’t have lots of time to get lots of treats to sell. So, we selled 5 things those are chocolate fondue, topping ice-cream, 3 together (lolipop, eraser, chocolate), Elaine’s homemade cookies, and animal shaped biscuits. On 11th, it was preety successful to elementry students but on 12th it wasn’t that successful. but all 5th graders raised more than 1,000,000won. So we were all happy.

On our display boards, I designed and print out things that we are going to paste,  Kathy cut things that I print out, and Elaine pasted things that Kathy cut. On the first board was about us and AWI. On the secnd board was about 3 areas of focus that we searched. And on the third board, we pasted our letter and contact informations of AWI.

On our powerpoint, we only talked about 3 areas of focus. I worked on Agriculture animals, Elaine worked on Ocean animals, and Kathy worked on Wild animals. We didn’t talk about our fundraisings  because talking only about 3 areas of focus was long enough.

When we are presenting to teachers and parents we were the only group who made TV commercial. It was about two rich girls who are boasting of their new fur coats and later the words came out and said don’t be like those girls. Actually the real story of our commercial was there were 2 rich girls boasting their fur coats but later a normal girl came and told them why they need to stop buying fur coats. I was about to meet in my house to take this commercial but Elaine told us that she can’t come so Kathy and I had to change our script.

During our presentation infront of parents and teachers was pretty hard than I thought. My speech was suddenly became long to me that I kept put my eyes on my speech and looking at back. Next time, I want to be brave and have more eye contacting and speak clearly. And when we are showing our display board to elementries, almost everyone only watched our commercial except few teachers. So, next time, when I am showing displays, I will think of how I can give people more attention about the displays.
