For this quarter, during UOI class, we are learning about Agriculture. These are our main ideas of our unit:
Farming has an impact on the environment.
1) Farming practices vary around the world.
2) Direct and indirect products of agriculture.
3) An “earth friendly” garden can be designed.
After we planted plants, we had another experiment called Making Bug Trap. Before we are making bug traps at school, we had to search methods of making bug traps easily.
So I chose very simple one that was making bug trap with things that I have.
Method of making my bug trap:
Materials: a yellow paper or yellow cardboard, plastic zipper bag, Petroleum jelly, and a plastic spoon or knife.
Step 1: Put a yellow cardboard into a zipper bag.
Step 2: Spread Petroleum jelly with spoon on a zipper bag like spreading jam on a toast.
Step 3: Put the trap on the floor safety.
I was making a bug trap.
What kind of method did this bug trap is using for catching insects?
Mostly bugs like bright colors such as yellow so bugs will come nearby to this trap. And when you spread this sticky petroleum jelly, the bug will stick on the trap.
I was putting my trap in the forest nearby my school.
A couple of weeks later, we visited this forest again to look what happened to our traps. My trap was full of soil and little pieces of branches and plants. And other students had insects in their traps like spider, centipede, and ants. However there were few students who lost their foods (fruits and jelly) and don’t have any insects inside such as my friend Kathy.
